Henry joined the company full-time in December 1964, following in the footsteps of generations before him. He became the fourth generation of his family to lead Simpson when he assumed the role of President in 1970 and later became Chairman in 1988. Under Henry’s leadership, Simpson Technologies achieved remarkable growth, including his successful negotiation of the largest order in the company's history with the Kama River Truck Plant in Russia. Henry also presided over the construction of the former Simpson headquarters in Aurora, IL.
As we reflect on Henry’s legacy, we also remember Simpson Technologies’ rich history. In 2012, under Henry’s stewardship, we celebrated our 100th anniversary of innovation, leadership, and service to the global metal casting industry. Henry, like the generations before him, was dedicated to advancing the family legacy, ensuring Simpson remained a vital force in the foundry industry.
Henry’s contributions extended beyond Simpson. He served as President of both the Casting Industry Suppliers Association and the American Foundry Society, guiding AFS during its 100th anniversary. His leadership in the industry was widely recognized, and in 1995, he received the Casting Industry Suppliers Association Presidents Award, its highest individual award, for his service. He served in the United States Navy for four years and was stationed at Norfolk, VA, Jacksonville, FLA and Washington DC.
The Simpson family’s involvement in the foundry industry is unparalleled, with three generations serving as Presidents of the Casting Industry Suppliers Association and four generations as President the American Foundry Society. Simpson was a founding member of the Foundry Educational Foundation in 1919. Henry’s legacy is intertwined with Simpson Technologies’ proud history of leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence in metal casting.
As we remember Henry, we also honor his leadership, vision, and dedication, which will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come. His legacy lives on in the company he helped shape and in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have worked with him.
Please keep the Dienst family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
