Sustainability at Simpson's New Global Tech Center

At Simpson, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact.

Our new Simpson Global Tech Center, located at 2135 City Gate Lane in Naperville, Illinois, is a testament to this commitment.

Sustainable features of our new facility:

  • LEED Certification: The building is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified, meeting high standards for sustainable building practices.
  • Green Cleaning: Our cleaning service is a LEED partner, using specialized training and environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  • Paper Recycling: We provide paper recycling bins for daily collection, reducing waste sent to landfills.
  • Natural Light: Floor-to-ceiling Low-E coated windows allow natural light into workspaces, reducing the need for artificial lighting.
  • Water Conservation: Bathrooms include water-conserving fixtures, such as motion-sensor faucets, to reduce water usage.
  • HVAC Efficiency: The Building Automation System optimizes HVAC efficiency, reducing energy consumption.
  • Indoor Air Quality: The building is equipped with the Global Plasma Solutions™ indoor air-quality ionization system, ensuring clean and healthy indoor air.

Additionally, CityGate Centre, where our new facility is located, features several green initiatives, including the preservation of existing wetlands, a retention pond for stormwater management, erosion-control grasses, and native and drought-resistant plants.

Hotel Arista, the first LEED-certified hotel in Illinois, is conveniently located next door for our visitors. The only Forbes-recommended hotel in the state outside of Chicago city limits, also contributes to the sustainability of the area with initiatives such as sustainable housekeeping and hotel-wide recycling.

The Chefs Garden along Route 59, south of the surface lot outside of the 2135 building, grows fresh herbs and vegetables used by Che Figata and CityGate Grille, promoting local and sustainable food practices. In addition, the roof garden on the Calamos Investments building anchoring the south end of CityGate Centre further underscores the community’s commitment to sustainability by providing additional oxygen-producing plant life, reducing energy use through the urban heat-island effect, and lowering roof temperatures compared to conventional roofs.
