The PFP Mold Strength Tester

The Simpson PFP Mold Strength Tester is used to determine the strength properties of clay-bonded foundry sand. The measured force, which corresponds to the penetration resistance, indicates the strength rate.

This lightweight and portable device can be used to measure mold strengths at the molding machines. The results can indicate performance of the sand at the molding machine or an individual pattern.

PFP Features

The PFP utilizes a crystal oscillator sensor, which eliminates traditional sources of error such as non-linearity of spring back of highly compacted sands.

The device offers movement free force measurement and is lightweight (125 grams) and very compact.  The PFP records measurements in N/cm² or PSI and operates on the following measuring range: 0.2 – 34.5 N/cm² or 0.2 – 50.0 PSI. The PFP displays the measurements on a digital display, has a multi-function push-button switch, and operates on two standard AAA batteries.
